deceased proved by the oath of James Reid Chris Bryan, two ot the Witnesses thereto ordered to records. Testo John Stewart---Recorded in Will Book 1, pg. 39

2]Ref: Ltr of April 19, 1991 from Sam Payne's relative. Born ca 1720, ca Maryland, d. between 11 September and 30 October 1787, Greenbrier Co., VA., when his will, made the earlier date, was probabated. According to family tradition, he was married twice, with a son, Andrew, by his first wife (name unknown, but some say "Mary Hamilton", and thought to be a sister to his second wife). He married Alice Hamilton ca 1765 in the area of the Jackson River, then Augusta Co., VA., now Bath Co., VA. At least, that is where the Hamilton's were living then. Alice was the daughter of William Hamilton, Sr.and his wife Alice?, who came from county Tyrone, North Ireland to New Castle county, Delaware in the 1740's, lived a short time in Chester County, Penn. and then moved to the Little Calfpasture River, Augusta Co. , ca 1749. The first mention of Anthony is in a tax list of 1771 for Bath Co.
